Monte Vista Strings and Jazz

It is always great to meet other wedding vendors, but all too often that is difficult the day of the wedding. There is so much going on, and each of us has our job to do. Sometimes there is a break in the activities and an opportunity to meet arises, sometimes not.

At Jana and Jeff’s wedding I had the opportunity to meet Andrew, the Director of Monte Vista Strings and Jazz. His string quartet provided a delightful evening of music for the reception. He and the quartet added a classical and elegant atmosphere to the reception. Unfortunately we did not get to talk for very long, but I was very impressed with his company and services.

Jana and Jeff are Married – San Antonio Wedding Photographer

Jana and Jeff are the cutest couple. I had been looking forward to photographing their wedding for months. They had booked me over the phone back in July, and I could tell from Jana’s enthusiasm that it would be a beautiful event.

With the ceremony held at the Little Church of La Villita the wedding had a distinct charm and downtown San Antonio flair. It was the perfect location for friends and family to gather and witness Jana and Jeff join together in marriage. The forecast had been calling for rain all week but somehow I knew the morning of the wedding it would be a great day. A light drizzle finally did come down during the ceremony, but by the time formal photos were done, the walk to The Hotel Contessa was dry, and the reception got underway.

Maliha and Mike are married

Small intimate weddings are so much fun and such a treat to photograph. I always feel a much tighter connection with the couple, and the images seem to be full of emotion and atmosphere. Such was the case with Maliha and Mike a couple of weekends ago here in San Antonio. With family in attendance the two celebrated a small ceremony at their home to profess their love and commitment to one another. It was such a joyful event with all the emotion and fun that one would expect from a close knit family.

Jessica’s Bridal Portraits

When Jessica drove down from Fort Worth to San Antonio in October for her bridals, I landed a pretty sweet deal with Zaza Gardens. They were willing to trade location time for some commercial photographs of their venue; I posted some of those back in October. Jessica was looking for a venue that offered indoor and outdoor settings, and I had recently been turned onto Zaza by a friend.

The venue was the perfect setting for some really great photos, and the ability to shoot indoors was a welcome relief from the TX heat. Another big thanks to Lea who was gracious enough to allow the use of their facility. The hardest part of the shoot was not posting these until after the wedding. Now that Jessica and Carl are off on the honeymoon its time to show off the beautiful bride.

Jessica and Carl are married

Jessica and Carl tied the knot this past weekend in a beautiful ceremony on Marriage Island in San Antonio along the Riverwalk. It was such a fitting and emotional ceremony as they professed their love for one another in front of friends, family, and all the passersby that stopped to witness the event.

After the ceremony it was time for a riverboat ride for the guest while the wedding party headed off for some photos and a walking tour of the Riverwalk. The destination? Casa Rio for a reception and dancing late into the night. It was the perfect evening for close family and friends as they enjoyed the music and atmosphere of a special event.

America’s Best Downtowns

Ok engaged couples, this was something I suspected, but now Yahoo has confirmed it, so it has to be true (it’s on the internet right?). San Antonio is one of America’s Best Downtowns

I have been photographing engagement sessions downtown for some time now, and every session is different and fun. Downtown San Antonio offers such a diverse setting and the area is always rocking with activity. This makes for a great place to see and do things, and some fantastic engagement photos. If you haven’t done engagement photos, seriously consider downtown San Antonio as the location.

Stephanie and Matthew Married – San Antonio Wedding Photographer

Stephanie and Matthew were married this past weekend in San Antonio before family and friends. In a fun filled wedding celebration the two joined as one and began their life together. I had the privileged of photographing their ceremony and reception and capturing the special occasion for them.

Beatrice is Married – San Antonio wedding photographer

Bridal sessions are so much fun but it is hard to wait until after the wedding to post the photos. In September Beatrice and I created some stunning bridal photographs at the McNay Art Museum. While I unfortunately did not get to photography her wedding I did get to work with her on the gorgeous photos below. Now that she is married (congrats Beatrice!) I can post these for all to see.

Black Wedding Dresses?

This is interesting, and in today’s wedding climate directed at personalizing your ceremony, it was only a matter of time before someone challenged the age old tradition of white. Vera Wang has introduced the black wedding dress complete with edgy model. Possibly a first choice for Halloween weddings, I think it will be interesting to see who goes for this in the upcoming wedding seasons. Let me know what you think in the comments. Brides, would you ever wear black?
