The Social Wave

The internet reaches deep into our everyday lives, and maybe none more prevalent than with social media.  Facebook has grown to be the default service for interacting and sharing with our network of friends, family, and co-workers, but in the computer age trends change quickly and preferences shift.  Only a few years ago Myspace was the go-to for social interaction on the internet, now Google is leveraging its position to entice users with Google+.

In situations like the this the upstart has to present the user with compelling features and an appealing visual interface.  Facebook has risen due to the simple and uniform appearance of the site combined with features that are meaningful to users.  In order for Google to make headway in this space, Google + will have to appeal on features and appearance.  It is easy to sit back and be content with the current standard; facebook, but in reality the platform that prevails will be the one adopted by users.

Let me know what you think of Google+ and your predictions on its success in the comments.
