San Antonio Wedding Photography on Marriage Island

Marriage Island plays host to hundreds of weddings a year, at least that is what guides say to the San Antonio tourists on the riverboats as they go by.  I can’t vouch for these numbers, but I do now there was as important wedding there this past week.  Marriage Island is the location of the first Catholic Mass along the river conducted by Damian Massanet in June, 1691, so there is a rich history.  Sometime after the Mexican Revolution the area was blessed by Mexican priests and started being used as the location for wedding ceremonies.

As the riverboats slowly passed by Kenzie and Julio exchanged their vows.  Here from Houston, their love for the area and for one another made for a perfect atmosphere and a lovely ceremony.  Photographing the two was a special moment for me as well seeing as this was the first wedding for me to photograph on Marriage Island.  In a short time the ceremony was over, and the formal photos done.  Kenzie and Julio were off to enjoy Downtown and the Riverwalk as newlyweds.
