I posted a handful of photos earlier this week from Liz and Gavin’s wedding. What I didn’t mention was the pressure many were feeling in the minutes leading up to the ceremony. There was never any doubt the two would tie the knot, but my drive to the venue had me feeling a bit anxious.
The ceremony and reception were being held at Scenic Springs, a beautiful venue tucked away in the trees of Grey Forest just outside San Antonio. About 10 miles from the venue the rain was pouring off my windshield, and continued for the next 5 miles. Scenic Springs was still dry, but I was a bit uneasy unloading my photography equipment. The buzz of activity meant there was little time to lament about the weather, and both Liz and Gavin seemed to be unaffected by it. Intentional or not, the silence surrounding the possibility of rain and the thought of moving the ceremony indoors, seemed like an unwritten code everyone should follow.
As if to work perfectly, the silence paid off and not a drop fell as Liz and Gavin exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony. As everyone made their congratulations and headed off to the reception area, one could see the joy and delight in Liz and Gavin. It would shine even brighter throughout the night, on a day that started so cloudy.
