Leigh and Trey – New Braunfels Wedding

Wedding venues with historic ties are always interesting, and when Leigh contacted me about her wedding I was very interested.  Leigh and Trey has selected Bavarian Halle as their wedding site.  Bavarian Halle is a recently transformed Schlitterbahn property,  that doubles as a beer garden, and now wedding venue.  The historic tie is that the venue is built around the Moeller House.  Moeller House is the oldest two story house in New Braunfels, and the rustic charm has been nicely preserved over the years.

For Leigh and Trey it made the perfect location for their New Braunfels wedding.  they were one of the first couples to book a wedding at the transformed venue, and one of the first few weddings to be held there.  For me it was exciting to be photographing one of the first weddings at such a historic site.  The rustic atmosphere of the Moeller House was perfect for the “geting ready” photos, and provided a warm, dry location for group shots.

The reception area doubled as the setting for the ceremony, and was easily converted to a charming atmosphere for the dancing and dinner.  For Leigh and Trey it was an evening of joy, fun, and love as they mingled with friends and family from all over.  It is always exciting to share in capturing the movements that make the day so special.

Leesa and Aaron – Canyon Lake Wedding

Photography from Leesa and Aaron’s fun filled wedding at Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages including a surprise engagement.

It’s such an unassuming venue, tucked away back in the tress off FM306.  The quaint rustic charm hides the true party nature of this venue.  Most receptions spill over into the wee hours of the morning…Leesa and Aaron’s wedding was no exception.

Congrats to you both and thanks for inviting Michelle and I to capture all the joy and fun of your wedding day.

Hondo Wedding at Quihi Dance Hall

Small town weddings have an atmosphere and charm that you just can’t get in the city.  There are still the wedding day jitters, and pre-ceremony tension, but overall there is a laid back feel.  Being surrounded by farm land and ranches tends to impart a sense of simplicity.  The friendliness of everyone you encounter brings a smile to your face.

Amanda and Josh brought that incredible atmosphere to their wedding in charming style.  From the downtown Hondo loft where the bride and her girls got ready, to the Quihi dance hall that has a history all its own, the day was marked by a country vintage feel.  It’s always fun as the photographer, to capture that vibe and translate it into a story for the couple.

One of the most unique touches was that of the “guest book”.  After branding a beautiful wood piece during the ceremony, it was then available for all the guests to sign during the reception.  It will be a fantastic reminder of the wonderful day.

McNay Art Museum Bridal Photography – San Antonio, TX

The Mcnay Art Museum has long been a favorite destination of wedding photographers and brides around San Antonio.  The well kept landscape and wonderful architecture makes for a wonderful backdrop.  Shooting on the grounds is inexpensive and easy.  A small $20 grounds fee is collected by security, preventing the need to fill out paperwork or obtain a permit beforehand.

The grounds can get a bit crowded depending on the time of day and weather, so some patience and planning is recommended.  It is not uncommon to find a number of photographers as well as museum goers wandering about taking in the art.  There are the typical photo spots, but there are plenty of areas for those with a creative eye.  Make sure to check the hours the grounds are open, which vary from the museum itself, if you are planning a visit.

Boerne Bridal Photographer – Alyssa at The Springs

Select photos from Alyssa’s bridal session at The Springs in Boerne.  It’s always a pleasure to shoot bridal photos at wedding venues.  The lack of traffic and interruptions allows for a much more creative atmosphere.  For the bride it means comfortable accommodations to get ready without the limitations of a makeshift location.  Of course I always schedule so the photography session runs through sunset so we can make the best of the beautiful light.

Brittany and Zach’s Wedding in Comfort, TX

I occasionally get calls for weddings in the Hill Country, and such was the case for Brittany and Zach’s wedding.  Their wedding plans centered around The Cathedral in Comfort, TX.  Featuring a historic chapel and grounds, the venue has been converted into a beautiful wedding destination, and perfect backdrop for their day.

The day was made even more special by the close tie-in with family.  Brittany’s brother was presiding over the ceremony as minister, and had the special privilege of joining Brittany and Zach together as husband and wife.

One of the most heart felt moments occurred just before the start of the ceremony.  Brittany and Zach came together for a prayer, hand in hand; the chapel door acting as the curtain to prevent Zach from seeing his beautiful bride before the start of the ceremony.   With emotion in their voices they expressed their love for one another, and in moments the time had arrived.

Beautiful and full of love, that is the description of their day.
