Hondo Wedding at Quihi Dance Hall

Small town weddings have an atmosphere and charm that you just can’t get in the city.  There are still the wedding day jitters, and pre-ceremony tension, but overall there is a laid back feel.  Being surrounded by farm land and ranches tends to impart a sense of simplicity.  The friendliness of everyone you encounter brings a smile to your face.

Amanda and Josh brought that incredible atmosphere to their wedding in charming style.  From the downtown Hondo loft where the bride and her girls got ready, to the Quihi dance hall that has a history all its own, the day was marked by a country vintage feel.  It’s always fun as the photographer, to capture that vibe and translate it into a story for the couple.

One of the most unique touches was that of the “guest book”.  After branding a beautiful wood piece during the ceremony, it was then available for all the guests to sign during the reception.  It will be a fantastic reminder of the wonderful day.

Brittany and Zach’s Wedding in Comfort, TX

I occasionally get calls for weddings in the Hill Country, and such was the case for Brittany and Zach’s wedding.  Their wedding plans centered around The Cathedral in Comfort, TX.  Featuring a historic chapel and grounds, the venue has been converted into a beautiful wedding destination, and perfect backdrop for their day.

The day was made even more special by the close tie-in with family.  Brittany’s brother was presiding over the ceremony as minister, and had the special privilege of joining Brittany and Zach together as husband and wife.

One of the most heart felt moments occurred just before the start of the ceremony.  Brittany and Zach came together for a prayer, hand in hand; the chapel door acting as the curtain to prevent Zach from seeing his beautiful bride before the start of the ceremony.   With emotion in their voices they expressed their love for one another, and in moments the time had arrived.

Beautiful and full of love, that is the description of their day.

Maizey and Aaron are Married – New Braunfels Wedding

On the grounds of The Springs near New Braunfels, Maizey and Aaron confirmed their love for one another.  As the sunset drew near, the wedding ceremony concluded ushering in a wonderful night of celebration and fun.  Being able to witness and photograph the entire day was such a fun experience.  The transition from anxiousness and excitement to joy and delight could be seen as the day progressed, and it was a pleasure capturing the intimate moments throughout.

Cara and Joseph – San Antonio Wedding

Wedding days are always exciting.  I can feel the anticipation building as the couple’s get ready for the ceremony.  No matter how laid back the ceremony and reception plans, I can always sense the nervous excitement among the bridal party.

Cara and Joseph may have been nervously anxious, but it was hidden from me.  They both seemed completely unfazed by the wedding day chaos that tends to swirl around the big day.  Everything fell into place, and those small details that might be a minor disaster to some, were brushed off with a calm improvised plan.

The best part of the day was seeing all the love and care they had for family and friends.  It was touching to see the close bond, and emotional interactions, between guests, friends, and family.  That is the exciting part the I will remember from their wedding day.  Congrats Cara and Joseph, it was a privilege to photograph the moments of your wedding day.

Amy and Eli are married – A Scenic Springs Wedding

Sometimes you have to be a little bit bold, especially this time of year.  For the most part Texas winter weather is mild, and it can result in perfect conditions for a wedding ceremony.  On the other hand it can be miserable, and leave couples looking for a plan “B”.  On the morning of Amy and Eli’s wedding, plan “B” appeared to be the likely choice.  Slightly on the cool side, and with heavy threatening skies, the chance of rain was very likely.  It takes a bold bride to stick with an outdoor ceremony plan under those conditions, but Amy was sure of her decision.

As if to exhibit some kind of super power over the weather, the rain did hold out all the way up until the last shots of the formal photos, then light sprinkles fell letting everyone know it was time to move on to the reception.  Congrats to a wonderful couple and a fantastic wedding day.  Capturing the moments of your day was a heartwarming experience.

Brenda and Adam are Married – A San Antonio Riverwalk Wedding

From the moment I met Brenda and Adam I knew this would be a fun exciting wedding.  Their love for one another and their excitement for the future was evident.  Just talking through the details of their day had me wishing the wedding was that weekend.  It had been a long spell since I had photographed a wedding along the San Antonio Riverwalk, and I was anxious to get back down there to experience the atmosphere on the river wedding scene.

Hotel Contessa is situated right by Marriage Island along the Riverwalk.  This area is a hotbed of wedding activity, and as a photographer you have to be on top of things, and constantly attentive to everything going on.  Onlookers from street level are there to witness the ceremony, as well as the river boat tours that pass by every 5 minutes or so.  The applause and congratulations are part of the ceremony, and the atmosphere is excitingly unique!

Brenda and Adam’s wedding struck a perfect balance between number of guests and fun romantic atmosphere. As a photographer this was the ideal situation to be constantly engaged, and creating striking photos all evening long. Great location, fantastic people, fun couple, and an evening that no one wanted to end.  Congrats to Brenda and Adam on a wonderful start to your life together.

Laura and Corey are Married – A Downtown Dallas Wedding

I don’t often get calls to shoot weddings so far from home.  The majority of weddings I cover are around San Antonio where I live.  I also often cover weddings in the Corpus Christi area as well as the Waco area.  Laura and Corey’s wedding would take me to Dallas, and travel is part of the fun of doing wedding photography.

What they had planned was a fun evening of family, friends, entertainment, and a wedding ceremony to tie it all together.  With the downtown Dallas skyline in the background, their wedding venue, Lofty Spaces, provided a great location for everyone to have a wonderful time.  Add some lively entertainment in the form of dueling pianos and you have a recipe for a fun night.

Ah yes, the Kilts!  A fun little addition by the groom just to keep things fun and unique.  There was no specific reason for the kilts except to ensure that this would be a wedding with its own flair and style.  The groomsmen loved them, and they provided a great talking point for the entire event.  Congrats Laura and Corey!! It was a pleasure to capture your day.
