Hondo Wedding at Quihi Dance Hall

Small town weddings have an atmosphere and charm that you just can’t get in the city.  There are still the wedding day jitters, and pre-ceremony tension, but overall there is a laid back feel.  Being surrounded by farm land and ranches tends to impart a sense of simplicity.  The friendliness of everyone you encounter brings a smile to your face.

Amanda and Josh brought that incredible atmosphere to their wedding in charming style.  From the downtown Hondo loft where the bride and her girls got ready, to the Quihi dance hall that has a history all its own, the day was marked by a country vintage feel.  It’s always fun as the photographer, to capture that vibe and translate it into a story for the couple.

One of the most unique touches was that of the “guest book”.  After branding a beautiful wood piece during the ceremony, it was then available for all the guests to sign during the reception.  It will be a fantastic reminder of the wonderful day.

Tawanna and Ray are married

For the most part Texas weather is hot!  We have cold days in the winter…most Northerner’s would laugh at what we call cold.  We also have some wet weather in the spring, and I referred to that in my previous post on Tawanna’s bridal photos.  The wet weather returned for Tawanna and Ray’s wedding day, but there is a saying that goes with that.

Rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, because a wet knot is harder to untie.

The weather did not stop everyone from having a great time and enjoying the wonderful ceremony and reception.  The bride looked beautiful, the groom looked stylish, and together they danced the evening away.

Kids at Weddings – Okonski

Kids are always a lot of fun to photograph at weddings.  Having to sit still through a ceremony, then being let lose for the reception, is a recipe for fun and excitement.  I always keep an eye out for cute moments and fun interaction between the kids, adults, and dance floor.  Last year I captured this cute photograph at Stephanie and Matthew’s wedding.  The ceremony was over, the formal photos had been accomplished, and the kids were turned lose to have fun.  With the music going strong, these two were on the dance floor.  Their expressions are priceless.  One can only guess the exchange going on between them.
