Brittany and Zach’s Wedding in Comfort, TX

I occasionally get calls for weddings in the Hill Country, and such was the case for Brittany and Zach’s wedding.  Their wedding plans centered around The Cathedral in Comfort, TX.  Featuring a historic chapel and grounds, the venue has been converted into a beautiful wedding destination, and perfect backdrop for their day.

The day was made even more special by the close tie-in with family.  Brittany’s brother was presiding over the ceremony as minister, and had the special privilege of joining Brittany and Zach together as husband and wife.

One of the most heart felt moments occurred just before the start of the ceremony.  Brittany and Zach came together for a prayer, hand in hand; the chapel door acting as the curtain to prevent Zach from seeing his beautiful bride before the start of the ceremony.   With emotion in their voices they expressed their love for one another, and in moments the time had arrived.

Beautiful and full of love, that is the description of their day.

Maizey and Aaron are Married – New Braunfels Wedding

On the grounds of The Springs near New Braunfels, Maizey and Aaron confirmed their love for one another.  As the sunset drew near, the wedding ceremony concluded ushering in a wonderful night of celebration and fun.  Being able to witness and photograph the entire day was such a fun experience.  The transition from anxiousness and excitement to joy and delight could be seen as the day progressed, and it was a pleasure capturing the intimate moments throughout.

Cara and Joseph – San Antonio Wedding

Wedding days are always exciting.  I can feel the anticipation building as the couple’s get ready for the ceremony.  No matter how laid back the ceremony and reception plans, I can always sense the nervous excitement among the bridal party.

Cara and Joseph may have been nervously anxious, but it was hidden from me.  They both seemed completely unfazed by the wedding day chaos that tends to swirl around the big day.  Everything fell into place, and those small details that might be a minor disaster to some, were brushed off with a calm improvised plan.

The best part of the day was seeing all the love and care they had for family and friends.  It was touching to see the close bond, and emotional interactions, between guests, friends, and family.  That is the exciting part the I will remember from their wedding day.  Congrats Cara and Joseph, it was a privilege to photograph the moments of your wedding day.

Amy and Eli are married – A Scenic Springs Wedding

Sometimes you have to be a little bit bold, especially this time of year.  For the most part Texas winter weather is mild, and it can result in perfect conditions for a wedding ceremony.  On the other hand it can be miserable, and leave couples looking for a plan “B”.  On the morning of Amy and Eli’s wedding, plan “B” appeared to be the likely choice.  Slightly on the cool side, and with heavy threatening skies, the chance of rain was very likely.  It takes a bold bride to stick with an outdoor ceremony plan under those conditions, but Amy was sure of her decision.

As if to exhibit some kind of super power over the weather, the rain did hold out all the way up until the last shots of the formal photos, then light sprinkles fell letting everyone know it was time to move on to the reception.  Congrats to a wonderful couple and a fantastic wedding day.  Capturing the moments of your day was a heartwarming experience.

Lupe and Jesus are married!

Lupe and Jesus contacted me with very little time left before their wedding.  Each year I get a few last minute wedding photography requests, and I always enjoy helping out if I have the date available.  This was the case for Lupe and Jesus, and even better I had previously photographed events at the church and reception venue they chose.

The church was Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes.  It had been some time since I last photographed a wedding there, and to make it more interesting the service was to be in Spanish.  Growing up in the Catholic church was a big help in knowing the progression of the mass and sacrament.  The reception was just down the road at La Escondida Celebration Center, another venue I am familiar with. We even had a dramatic sky for a sunset couples photo!  Congrats to you both, and many happy years ahead.

Cake started to fly, but you won’t believe what happened next!

What happened next?  A little cake-in-the-face is often normal at weddings.  What fun loving bride and groom doesn’t have thoughts of getting some icing on one another during cake cutting at the reception.

Capturing the cake cutting is always high on the photography priority list for me. Really any key moment during the reception is important, but cake cutting can be a challenge photographically.  Usually the cake is near a wall and getting a good angle with the right lighting can pose problems.

Everything seemed to be going normal for Jessica and Jason.  I had a good angle, good light, I was getting great shots.  They were being so tender and loving with one another.  There was even an “agreement” not to get cake everywhere.  Then this!!  The moment it all went crazy.  You can see for yourself what happened next!

Holli and Shane get Married

Outdoor weddings this time of year in San Antonio can be gorgeous, but the ceremony can be a gamble with the weather.  It seems this Spring has provided an unending mix of craziness.  For Holli and Shane however, the weather was perfect, with wonderful temperature, clear skies, and a beautiful venue.

Rustic Gardens was their choice of location, and the venue was perfect with just the right mix of style and rustic charm.  Capturing the pre-wedding nerves, the wonderful ceremony expressions, and the reception fun was exciting, and provided for an evening of great photography.   Documenting the interactions of the day and capturing the emotions of the event is always heartwarming, and gives me a sense of accomplishment to know I am providing lasting memories.
